This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations。 But one that’s on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta。 She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing – Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old。
此次的大选中有许多的第一次；也有许多将被代代相传的故事。而今晚在我脑中的故事是关于一位在亚特兰大投出选票的妇女。她如同数以百万的人民一样；排着队；试图让她们的声音留在这一次的大选中。而唯一不同的事；安。尼克森。库伯；已经是106岁高龄了。
She was born just a generation past slavery； a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky； when someone like her couldn’t vote for two reasons – because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin。

And tonight； I think about all that she’s seen throughout her century in America – the heartache and the hope； the struggle and the progress； the times we were told that we can’t； and the people who pressed on with that American creed： Yes we can。At a time when women’s voices were silenced and theirhopes dismissed； she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach forthe ballot。 Yes we can。

She was there for the buses in Montgomery； the hoses in Birmingham； a bridge in Selma； and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that “We Shall Overe。” Yes we can。

America； we have e so far。 We have seen so much。 But there is so much more to do。 So tonight； let us ask ourselves – if our children should live to see the next century； if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper； what change will they see？ What progress will we have made？

This is our chance to answer that call。 This is our moment。 This is our time– to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids； to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace； to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth – that out of many； we are one； that while we breathe； we hope； and where we are met with cynicism； and doubt； and those who tell us that we can’t； we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people：
Yes We Can。 Thank you； God bless you； and may God Bless the United States of America。

（记者：任何一段演讲都是夸大，乃至滥情的。而真正好的演讲，在我看来，正是将人们本已经稀缺同时却冗余于无谓中的情感重新整合催发，乃至爆发出巨大的震动，曾经澎湃却早已落寞的心再一次被煽动，即使这样的煽动是别有目的。
作为一个非美国人，我如此认真的翻译了这篇文章，我自己都觉得有狗拿耗子的嫌疑。一边翻一我一边思索：我们国家四方大脸，谈吐不凡的中央领导人们，什么时候才能如此平易近人说一些其实无关痛痒，但又振奋人心的话呢？
这篇演讲中，有很多很值得注意的点，比如说；gay and straight，比如说对于没有投给奥巴马的选民，他在那一段说，I will be your president too。这是胜利者的宣言，而这个宣言要表现得不仅是一个胜利的宽宏和饱含深情，也还有他的地位以及无可限量的权利。这都是现实，都是这篇演讲中所传达出来的信息。奥巴马的上台已经带来了足够大的转变，但也不一定会改变美国强硬的态度。强者的改变通常是在方式，而非目的。
不过这位总统实在是太会说了，举了一个106岁老大娘的例子，就把美国的历史，白人黑人，男人女人，种种热点问题都旁敲侧击的指明了奋斗的方向。果真，龙蛇混杂的家庭背景造就了一个八面玲珑的牛奶巧克力政府。
这篇演讲前半部分不用看了，主要是一些感谢cctv，mtv；美特斯邦威之类的套话，后半部分其实也不是十分的有实质性的内容，就如同所有的胜利感言一样。如果你正和我一样，迷茫，无助，看见蔫了的咸菜都能想起自己漂泊不定的未来甚至哭上一鼻子的话，美国精神里那种盲目向前，也许此时正是一剂良药。）
